No rules – no mistakes SAORI Workshops
There are a variety of ways you can learn to weave Saori style. Everyone is welcome, you do not have to have any previous weaving experience.
- Attend a group workshop at my studio in Hamilton.
- Attend a one -on-one at my studio in Hamilton.
- Be an artist in residence. Your own bedroom and bathroom, exclusive use of the looms, tools and threads in the studio
- Arrange with me to bring a pop-up Saori studio to your venue.
- Attend my next pop-up Saori studio in Hamilton or out of town. There are several pending so keep checking back here or on Instagram @weaveyourself or FB weaveyourself SAORI weaving
- Saori By the Sea Retreat. Held annually in Whitianga 2 – 3 days or more. Own bedroom. I cater to new weavers and others who have already woven Saori style. There is usually a theme eg. winding your own warp and threading at the loom or using the SAORI accessory the Table Top Threading Beaming system. Also, there are plenty of distractions away from the looms if some variety is needed.
I prefer to take a two-day session with the weavers. I introduce the attendees to the Saori philosophy and demonstrate a variety of Saori style techniques.
- Listen to the Cloth. Cutting and sewing your cloth using Saori techniques.
I also have a session called “Listen to the Cloth”. This is for Saori woven cloth and we work either from a Saori pattern book or drape on a mannequin and design and sew a unique hand made beautiful garment. Wear your art!
