“Glad Rag Doll” is sakiori weaving (rag weaving) It is my version of a Japanese kimono made of silk fabric ripped from a silk bed spread. The warp is made from a mixture of threads including, cotton, wool and rayon. The weft is all silk apart from a polyester “rag” thread I used to add impact. The ends of the ripped thread are left facing out to add impact and movement.

The Saori fabric cutter is the tool pictured used to cut the fabric into strips.
